EmpowHerMent 2018 was absolutely phenomenal! With over 150 attendees, The RISE Project was able to meet its objective of reaching the youth in the Wharton Community and providing them with positivity and inspiration.
The theme this year was Empowered to MOVE (Maximize Our Voices Everyday) Kindergarten through 12th grade girls and boys attended engaging in workshops on health, professionalism, current events, socialism, entreprenuership, career aspirations and networking. Special guest speakers from across the country presented to our students. Representatives from WCJC, University of Houston, University of Texas, Prairie View A&M University, Texas Southern University, Stephen F. Austin University, and Sam Houston State University with college information. Each high school student participated in network speed dating and left the conference with a mentor.
