The 2019 EmpowHerMent conference was held February 16th at Wharton High School. The outcome was amazing bringing in optimistic students and influencers from across Texas. The RISE Project was able to meet its objective of reaching the youth in the Wharton & surrounding communities and providing them with positivity and inspiration.
The theme this year was "I am _____". Engaging workshops were conducted on the topics of STEM, health, professionalism, current events, financial literacy, socialism, entrepreneurship, career aspirations and networking. Special guest speakers from across the country presented to our students. Representatives from WCJC, University of Houston, University of Texas, Prairie View A&M University, Texas Southern University, Stephen F. Austin University, and Sam Houston State University with college information. The Texas Workforce Commission supplied the students with job interview techniques and alternative career information.
